Princesses Strike Again

While more in a supporting role to the 7' dancing couples I previously painted for McMillian's First Steps, these 4'6" vignettes are a nice compliment. I had more fun with these as the background gave me more options for details. I actually painted them last Spring but I am just now managing to post the photos. There was a wedding in my immediate future that had me fairly distracted!

Gerry's Eye-Catcher

Here is a sign I did for my mechanic. He does car repairs out of a Texaco station, and nothing is very intersting or eye-catching around that stretch of road. The "law" also limits how large a sign they are permitted to have, so eye-catching color paired with a silly image is how we are attempting to lure them in!

Bad Girls of Burlesque!

It has been a while since I had the chance to paint something worth posting! Rick Felaup, producer of the Bust Out Burlesque shows, hired me to paint these two 4'8"W x11'2"T banners for Friday night's show.

Sungard Summit

Here are some photos of sign work I did back in March after Mardi Gras. I painted two vertical 5'7" x 22'T banners, one horizontal banner for across the music stage, and over 200 signs for food and beverage stations.

McMillian's Crescent City Truck Float

I had a lot of fun making these oversized cartoon-style images for the McMillian's family float. More images to come!

Rainforest Mural: Macaw Exhibit at the Aquarium of the Americas

This past September, while simultaneously serving jury duty in Criminal District Court, I completed and installed this mural for the Macaw Exhibit in the Rainforest Area of Audubon Institute's Aquarium of the Americas. Like the exterior one for the Zoo's "Dinosaur Adventure" exhibit, it was executed using exterior latex paint on vinyl billboard material to withstand the constant moisture and weekly hosing of the painting.

I think it is one of my best works, especially considering I only spent a week to complete and install it. I can only post photos of sections and not a photo of the mural in its entirety due to the mural's size, my inability to photograph it from a distance, and my lack of a wide angle lens.

McMillian Dining Room

Here are two of the trompe l'oeil pieces I painted for the rounded corners of the McMillian Dining Room. I also painted smaller shells resting on trompe l'oeil moulding for the side walls.
